Web2Print2Ship: 5 Mistakes to Avoid when Developing a “Touchless” Multi-Vendor Workflow
All print shops are facing a tremendous amount of pressure to “do more with less” and drive as much cost out of the business as possible. This session presents a case study examining the challenges, lessons learned and results of a “touchless” workflow application involving multiple vendors.
• How to make individual software applications shift from an island of automation
into one completely integrated technology—even when they come from multiple vendors.
• The business benefits of reducing touch-points in an end-to-end workflow, and how to compromise neither the integrity of the process nor the quality of the printed piece.
• When industry standards can streamline the workflow process—and when they can’t.
• The “before and after pictures” of an established mid-sized graphic arts provider.
Conference: April 19-22, 2010
Exhibits: April 20-22, 2010

AGS Wins Two in NAPL Marketing Excellence Awards
Tuesday, February 24, 2009
PARAMUS, N.J -- NAPL, the not-for-profit management association for business excellence in the printing and graphic communications industry, announced the winners in the first Marketing Excellence Awards Program. In total, 15 companies were recognized with 24 honors including 7 Gold, 9 Silver and 8 Bronze awards. The 24 awards represented a small portion of the total entries received, indicative of the increasing importance marketing plays throughout the industry. A panel of judges reviewed and deliberated over the wealth of entries during a three-day period with two judges reviewing and scoring each application.
"I was impressed with the quality of the entries," states Susan Wittner, former Marketing Director at AGFA and one of the program judges. "What became apparent is that many companies are investing great talent, energy and dollars to their marketing programs. That said, some of the winners submitted very simple programs that, through defined metrics, proved their effectiveness and ability to reach their intended audience."
"Our investment in creating a long term, strategic marketing plan is key to our future as a company," COO Dave Zamorski said, "Winning these awards serves as evidence that our programs are top of the line. This will help differentiate us from the competition".
Awards will be presented at the upcoming NAPL Top Management Conference in Tucson, AZ during a special marketing luncheon on Tuesday, March 17 moderated by Mark Potter, publisher of Canvas Magazine. AGS won awards in two categories:
Sales Support - Silver: Let AGS Take You Where You Want to Go

The printer won first place honors for the “biggest improvement in efficiency and customer responsiveness as a result of process automation.”
“I'm a big proponent of reducing touches in your operation,” says Dave Zamorski, COO. “When a new piece of equipment or software is considered, we always look at how many touches it will eliminate in the process. Every time you eliminate a touch, you increase your profitability.”
